“。。。世界上的富人一点都不在意制造痛苦却见不得一点痛苦。。。”影片中所有歌曲的歌词都写的铿锵有力，字字玑珠。著名的刀子马克之歌后来被多名歌手翻唱而成为流行。本片的德国版和法国版其实是同时拍摄的，不同的演员在同一场地拍摄完成，德国版更具有表现主义色彩，法国版要通俗一些。

唱段删了太多，除了主要的几首外，差不多是个话剧了。剧情也大改，删了Lucy的角色，私以为改过的反而更胜一筹。本来也是从The Beggars Opera(角色灵感来源Jenny Diver是当时伦敦著名扒手)改编的，演出过程中又有小改动，甚至还加了另一部音乐剧Happy End里的歌，Lotte Lenya战后还演了英语版的Jenny
